Online Scams in Poland: Complete Guide 2026
Poland's CERT Polska handled over 80,000 cybersecurity incidents in 2025, with phishing being the dominant threat. The Polish Financial Supervision Authority (KNF) reported rising losses from banking fraud and investment scams. Poland's rapid digitalization, widespread adoption of BLIK mobile payments, and massive InPost parcel locker network create specific attack vectors.
InPost and Delivery Scams
InPost Paczkomaty (parcel lockers) are ubiquitous in Poland, and fake InPost SMS messages are the country's most common phishing attack. "Twoja paczka czeka w Paczkomacie — dopłać 1.99 zł" (Your package is waiting — pay an additional 1.99 PLN) links lead to phishing pages.
"InPost: Twoja paczka nr PL48392017 nie może zostać dostarczona. Ureguluj opłatę 2.49 zł: [phishing link]" — A fake InPost delivery message. InPost does not send payment requests via SMS.
Poczta Polska, DPD, and DHL impersonation follow similar patterns. Track InPost packages only at inpost.pl or through the official app.

BLIK Payment Scams
BLIK, Poland's mobile payment system, is used by over 15 million Poles. Scammers exploit BLIK through social engineering: hacking Facebook or Messenger accounts and messaging contacts with urgent BLIK code requests ("I need to pay for something urgently — can you generate a BLIK code for me?"). The victim generates a BLIK code, shares it, and the scammer uses it for a withdrawal or purchase.
Never share BLIK codes with anyone. If a friend asks for a BLIK code via Messenger, call them directly to verify — their account may be compromised.
Banking Phishing
PKO BP, mBank, ING Bank Śląski, Santander Bank Polska, and BNP Paribas are impersonated. Messages about account blocks, security updates, and suspicious transactions lead to fake banking portals. Some attacks specifically target the banking app authorization process.
OLX and Allegro Marketplace Scams
OLX fraud involves fake buyers sending phishing links disguised as OLX payment pages. Allegro, Poland's largest e-commerce platform, faces fake seller scams and customer service impersonation. Use platform payment systems and never follow links sent directly by buyers or sellers.
